Black and White Smokey Eye

Hello everyone!

So there is a bit of a story behind this look. Recently I’ve wanted to get into cosplay, specifically as some of my favorite anime characters. So last week I attempted to do my makeup to look like Gasai Yuno, an adorable and murderous teenage girl (but without the pink eyes).

Isn’t she precious? (Source)

Clearly my makeup didn’t turn out like this. I started by applying a white eyeshadow in a V-shape around the inner corners of my eyes in order to make them appear larger, like a cartoon. I then applied a black eyeshadow in a V-shape around the outer corners of my eyes. This is where things started to look a little different. Instead of blending into the crease and dragging the dark shadow in a downwards motion, I blended up and out. It didn’t look bad at all, it just wasn’t the look I had in mind. I then continued as though I never made a mistake, adding a winged eyeliner that attached to both my upper and lower lash line, giving my eyes a more rounded appearance. Had I blended correctly, my eyes would have had a round and slightly droopy effect like Yuno’s. I then added some mascara and these AMAZING false lashes. Let me tell you, if you can get your hands on these lashes, please do so! They are super light-weight and comfortable. I normally go for the Ardell Glamour 106 Black lashes, but compared to these new ones, they are super heavy and less voluminous. Finally I dragged a bit of black eyeshadow under my lower lash line, added some face makeup, and I was done.

Even though the makeup didn’t turn out the way I had initially intended, I am absolutely in love with it! I think it’s a very classy smokey eye. It doesn’t leave one looking like a total raccoon because it has so much brightness to it. I think it would be perfect for any nighttime party or event.

I will leave a list of all products and brushes I used below. If you have any questions or feedback, please leave a comment!

***Okay so I got these lashes when I went to Japantown in San Francisco, California. There is this shop called Daiso Japan where everything is $1.50 unless otherwise stated (you won’t pay more than $5 for an item). Unfortunately I didn’t realize that pretty much the entire packaging is in Japanese, so I listed every English word there was to help you find them. Also I checked to see if I could order them online because they are now my favorite lashes of LIFE, but when I went to the website they were priced at $41!! WHAT THE FRICK!? If anyone can find them for a cheaper price, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Otherwise I will have to ask my aunt to pick up a few pairs.
